The start of something amazing.
BDO internships aren’t about coffee runs, mountains of busy work, or an empty, lonely cubicle. Instead, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute, make genuine connections, and have a real impact on our organization.
We treat our interns like we treat our longtime associates and partners – with respect. Regardless of which office you join or which group you’re assigned to, here’s what you can expect:
New Challenges, Every Day
You’ll quickly discover that no two days are ever quite the same. Whether you’re problem-solving with your colleagues in the office or meeting on-site with a client, at BDO you’ll get the chance to work on many different areas of our business, for clients both public and private, and on projects both big and small. You’ll gain a broad range of practical, valuable experience that will help you prepare for your career.
You earned this internship by showing us your talent, skills, and personality. Now we want to see you in action. From day one, you’ll be trusted to work on real-world assignments, putting the skills you’ve learned in school to actual use. Your assignments will include anything from working with big international clients to processing detailed corporate returns. No matter what you do, you’ll contribute to a variety of invigorating – and rewarding – assignments that challenge you to solve problems and think independently.
The Support You Need
Here, your potential will be recognized and your hard work will be rewarded – even at the intern level. And if you happen to get stuck, don’t worry – you’ll have the resources and support you need to get past it, including a dedicated mentor ready to answer any question you may have along the way.
People You Actually Like
At any job, you’re going to spend a lot of time in the office – so it might as well be filled with friendly and helpful people, right? At BDO, you’ll build relationships with colleagues who are actually invested in your success. You’ll train with other interns to learn the ins and outs of the profession, along with plenty of other opportunities to get to know the people you work with, including the chance to network and unwind during our many out-of-office events.
In addition to the face-to-face relationships you’ll grow, we’ll also help you network with BDO interns from across the country. Yammer, our internal portal, allows interns to post messages, enter contests, and make genuine connections. We also encourage our interns to share fun photos on Instagram using #BDOInternLife.
From the Interns Themselves…
What makes a BDO internship different than any other? The people you work with, learn from, and are inspired by. But don’t just take it from us: read what past interns have to say about their experience:
Bill Scott, Robert Morris University | Assurance Intern
“The people here are a brilliant mix of ambition, understanding, and encouragement. I don’t think you get the same quality of people at other firms. Everyone wants to see each other grow and succeed…”
Jaclyn Gagnon, Bentley University | Tax Intern
“There is this great sense of community, everyone is friends in and outside of the office. There isn’t a competitive feel, everyone is helping each other out and working together. The partners have an ‘open door’ policy, so you feel comfortable approaching them with questions.”
Eva Gooi, Ohio State University | Tax Intern
“I really like my team, and we work together closely. There is a great balance of keeping things serious, and fun. We tell jokes, but we also make sure our work gets done, sharing workloads when needed. If I finish work early, I make sure to let the rest of the team know and offer to help my colleagues.”
